The Pacifier

We actually refer to it as the "Soothie".... since that's what it says on the front. Penny has always loved having one. It helps her sleep. I feel like I have spent about 50% of the last year and a half, searching desperately for Penny's Soothie. It's a constant activity of mine. Usually, I just don't find it, and I ride out the tantrum, or try to get her to fall asleep without it. I'll finally get her to sleep, go downstairs, and promptly find three different Soothies in the most unlikely spots you would expect to look. I swear when she spits them out, I think I have an idea of the trajectory of its descent. It almost never lands anywhere near the place I assumed it must have fallen. Those things bounce a long way, on unpredictable paths.

Of course weening her from the Soothie is the ultimate goal. I tend to just let it be lost at times, so that I can talk to her. She is beginning to form a lot of words currently, and I don't want her Soothie getting in the way of her speaking in a language that I can finally understand.
